Guryong Village
Lack of Acknowledgment
The land upon which Guryong Village is built is not even considered to be inhabited. By observing this map, as presented by Google, and thus by proxy, the Korean Government, Guryong Village is akin to empty farmland rather than a thriving community of displaced persons.
Perspective: From the City

Disregarding Reality
Furthermore, the approach to the village is even covered up by the city. The city placed a garbage dump in front of the main approach. The city thus hides this village of its citizenry and neglects their right to inhabit it as whole members of the community.
Minor Accomodations
However, at times the city has acknowledged its denizens with small messages of affirmation. These messages take simple forms, such as post office boxes, fire extiguishers, electricity, and even a fire lane. By providing these helpful services, the city acknowledges the villagers' right to the city.

Looking Forward
Nevertheless, the city continues to move forward with an agenda centered around redeveloping Guryong Village into a high value apartment complex similar to the ones that coat the Gangnam District. These plans have run into many problems since their inception in 2011.
