Guryong village is situated in a jungle environment. It is hot and wet. This gives the village a muggy feeling that is very different from the original dwellings at the Olympic Park. The village is also dirty. There is lots of trash. There are many animals. All this combined leads to an unsanitary and unhealthy living space.

The many dwellers of Guryong village (between 2500 and 4000) live primarily in dilapidated shacks. Nevertheless, these shacks are furnished with electricity and, at times, running water. They also have cars that are remarkably new for the housing situation.

As the city began to acknowledge their poorer citizens, they created several outreach programs for Guryong Village. The most notable of these are the postal service with proper addresses and the fire extinguishers and escape paths.
